PsiQuantum is on a mission to build the first commercially useful quantum computer to solve humanity’s greatest challenges. The company believes quantum computing will transform industries and provide a new level of mastery over the physical world.
Our Approach: PsiQuantum is moving quantum computing out of the lab and into utility-scale infrastructure. The company’s thesis is that the unique strengths of photonic qubits, combined with direct leverage of high-volume semiconductor manufacturing, provide a fast, practical path to scale to fault-tolerant systems on the order of one million qubits.
Key Aspects of PsiQuantum’s Technology:
- Manufacturability: PsiQuantum designs its own chips and manufactures its Omega silicon photonic chipset at GlobalFoundries’ flagship fab in Malta, NY.
- Networking: The system scales beyond a single chip using standard telecom optical fiber without any need for transduction.
- Cooling & Power: Photonic qubits are insensitive to heat and electromagnetic interference, allowing control electronics to be colocated close to the qubit.
- Control Electronics: Integration within modular packaging units reduces physical complexity and minimizes extensive wiring.
PsiQuantum is building these systems in partnership with the US and allied governments, with its first sites planned in Brisbane, Queensland (Australia) and Chicago, Illinois (USA).
